Auto Insurance Requirements in Arkansas
The State of Arkansas requires all drivers to have a minimum amount of liability insurance. Proof of insurance is required during the registration process and if requested by an officer of the law.
If proof of insurance is not provided on request by a law enforcement officer, the driver will receive a fine of $25 under ACT 2246
The State of Arkansas uses an insurance verification program to verify that all drivers have current liability insurance. The program requires that insurance providers notify the State if a driver cancels or fails to maintain the minimum liability insurance coverage required by state law.
Additionally, if a driver is involved in an accident in the State of Arkansas and the accident causes injury or property damage in excess of $500, then the driver must complete a SR-21 form proving financial responsibility.
