A driver in the State of Georgia may be required to file an SR22 form for a number of different reasons. The main purpose for an SR22 certificate is to prove financial responsibility in the form of certified liability insurance. In the State of Georgia a driver may provide proof of financial responsibility by filing an SR22 Form through an insurance company authorized to do business in the State of Georgia. The SR22 certifies that the driver has a valid liability insurance policy for a given amount of time.

If a person does not maintain continous Georgia liability insurance on their vehicle the Georgia Department of Revenue is required to revoke the registration on the vehicle.
