In the State of Iowa if you have had your license suspended, you may be required to provide proof of financial responsibility as a condition of license reinstatement. This proof of financial responsibility comes in the form of an SR22 insurance form that is filed by your insurance company with the Iowa Office of Driver Services.

Iowa does not have compulsory insurance requirements however, the State does have the Financial & Safety Responsibility Act. This act protects others by suspending the driver license of those who cannot prove financial responsibility immediately following an accident and by requiring drivers that have had a suspension to prove financial responsibility for any damage that may occur in the future.
