North Carolina's vehicle financial responsibility act requires all registered vehicles to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance. When a vehicle is being titled or registered proof of insurance will need to be provided. Two types of proof are acceptable. Either the owner will provide the insurance company name and policy number or an FS-1 certificate of insurance supplied by an insurance company licensed in the State of North Carolina.
