Can I Plead to "Wet Reckless" in New Jersey?

Plea bargaining a reduced charge in New Jersey drunk driving cases.

In some states, a person who's charged with driving under the influence (DUI) can "plea bargain" for a lesser charge. When a DUI is plea bargained down to a reckless driving charge, it's sometimes called a "wet reckless."

The New Jersey Supreme Court has created rules that generally prohibit plea bargaining in DUI cases. So, plea bargaining for a wet reckless typically isn't an option in New Jersey. (NJ R MUN CT Plea Agreements Guideline 4(A) (2016).)
