Auto Insurance Requirements in South Carolina

All vehicle owners in the State of South Carolina are required to provide proof of insurance. The first time a motor vehicle is registered in South Carolina the owner of the vehicle must provide the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) with the name of their insurance company.
